meeting, which is why I wanted to talk to y'all today about kind of what makes a good new year new me talk. So I will not be live for the rest of the week, so I'm sorry about that, but we will hit it hard next week. Next week, believe it or not, I will be in Raleigh, North Carolina. I'm doing a road trip to go see my grandmother with my newborn. She has yet to see her because of COVID. So we're traveling to Roanoke, Virginia. This week, and then we're going down to Raleigh to be with my Raleigh friends. We're staying at one of my good friends house for a week.

So live next week may have some some guests, some of my dear friends. So check out next week. I think next week's gonna be a blast from a live show perspective. We'll do some fun stuff. So just a few more shout outs coming in. Mohammed, hello. Thank you for joining. Sneets, very North Carolina. I love it. Francis, thank you for tuning in. So I want to go ahead and dive in to today's episode. As always, if you are a hiring manager watching this now or watching this later, I would love to work with you this year. So one of my goals that I set on this show is to I basically close or bring in new business to Beco.

Five new accounts this year because of this show. So if you're a hiring manager and you've had problems hiring, you hate your recruiters, you want new vendors, and you're not based in Nashville. That's okay. I can still work with you now because of COVID. We staff across the country. Also, if you're a hiring manager, not in tech and still want to work with me. Let me know. Shoot me DM. I have we have a ton of teams at Beco that get you connected with. And then I can still be your point person. So again, if you are hiring manager, I would love to work with you in 2021.

Shout out to my team. I always want to give my team props because they are volunteering their time to help me out. So I need to put them on blast. So Alex, pool or design. Alex is taking kind of the reins of all my design work. If you want to talk to him about doing some design stuff for you, let me know his emails Alex pool or design gmail.com. Summer Livington, she is doing a lot of behind the scenes right now on my tail dessen.com. That is going to be a monster of a site. I'm very excited to share that with you all. And then Drew Skeleton is doing my video editing.

If you want some video editing, like some clips done at a great rate, let me know. I get you connected. And then finally, without further ado, Brandon R. Vay with Brandon 78, Alex Ditakki. He's the one that's kind of working with me to talk about this whole social media content strategy in 2021. We're rolling out some new stuff this year. We're getting tighter on some things. So shout out to him. So enough me, me, blabbering. Let's go ahead and get into why you guys probably tuned in is what makes a good, I guess, pep talk. New Year, New Me talk. I know, you know, within many organizations, we always have New Year, New Me in January.

Vay code. We're having our big New Year, New Me talk next week. I'm talking to my recruiters tomorrow morning and basically just kind of lane out 2021 and and some goals. And so there's three things that I think are incredibly important for New Year, New Me talks. And if you're watching this, I want to hear from you. Again, this is interactive. I think the more interactive you are, the more fun it is. I can run my mouth for 15, 20 minutes easily, but I don't like doing it. So if you're watching this and there's something that you like, your manager or something that your manager does and brings to a pep talk, please let me know what it is.

And I love to hear from you because I want to learn, right? I want to be better to my team. And so if there are other managers or leaders out there doing something cool, I want to know about it. So the first thing I think you need for a good New Year, New Me pep talk is energy. I think that's the first thing. I think as a leader, you need to bring some energy, right? If I got on this thing. If I got on this live thing every day and was like, hey, thanks for tuning in. I appreciate this is great. Like you guys would be like, ah, this is dumb.

I'm not going to watch this guy. I got other things better to do. Honestly, the fact that you all are watching me. I'm incredibly grateful. But so again, I think managers, I think leaders, I think bringing energy to any sort of New Year, New Me pep talk is incredibly vital. I think your team feeds off. You I think your organization feeds off of you. And if you are sitting there, just literally going, all right, where it's another year, it's going to be great. I'm sure that's just go after it. Like your team's not going to be energized. Like you got to bring some heat. You got to bring some heat.

And so I think that's incredibly important. I think energy again, energy is incredibly important. And also to New Year, New Me, if you're not even a leader, right, if you're an individual contributor, you still need to bring energy to the year, right? That goes across the board. I think January is a time where you can get so, so much accomplished because there's so much energy, right? I followed Gary Vaynerchuk. He I signed up for his community number, right? If you want my community number sign up here. But basically he texted, he was like, if you approach this year with the same tenacity, essentially that you are approaching the first week of January, but you're still doing that in June, you're going to be dangerous.

And so I would highly advise that for people for this year and especially for New Year, New Me, PEP Talk. His news, thanks for tuning in. It's good to see you. And then who, Leo, I was still two to Nancy Doltayler. Yes, Doltayler. Doltayler's not fun. You guys, my wife. So the next thing is messaging. Right. So the New Year, what makes your good New Year, New Me, PEP Talk is messaging. So this is kind of broad. You're probably like, Taylor, that's really, I mean, that's very broad. What do you mean by messaging? So for me, I think messaging is and it kind of ties into my third point.

And I'll expound on messaging for the next minute or two is, is I think there's some incredibly important things within messaging in regards to one. I think you need to give personal stories. Nairdas, I'm so big on this as a manager. And as a leader with an organization, if you don't give personal experiences to your employees, they're not going to resonate with you. Right. Every single meeting that I give to my team, I say, Hey, listen, I'm struggling with this. Or, Hey, I'm telling you this because I need to remind myself, I think a lot of times leaders like come to meetings with their team, they're like, I have to have everything together.

And I can't show weakness. And I know all the things like, no, no, stop, you, you suck at your job to like, at least leaders like we're not any better at our jobs in some aspects we are, but we still make mistakes. And so you need to tell your employees that if your employees know you're struggling with something, it's going to be so much easier for them to go, you know what Taylor struggling with this. I struggle with this. He's trying to get better. I'm going to get better. So that's my big thing. I'm sick and tired of leaders getting up on their podiums and talking like everything's great because you know what, it's not always great.

It's not. You need to tell that people what's bad. And then here's the next part of messaging. Then you need to obviously give some positives. Right. I think it needs to be very positive, especially 2021. Right. I put this out on social media yesterday, leave 2020 and 2020. Don't bring 2020 to 2021. I think you don't need to play the victim card. I think leaders for their new year, new me in 2021 need to bring so much energy and positivity around this year and focusing on this year in ways to get better and not really harp on last year because last year kicked a lot of people in the teeth.

And I get that. Again, if you are tuning in quick break and there's something your manager, your leader does for the new year, new me talks that you enjoy, please comment, throw it in the comments or what you like to see or what you don't like to see. Again, this this goes so much better if people obviously say things. And so I think another from a messaging perspective is you really, really need to be clear and concise. And this is my final point for today is is clear and concise because I think a lot of times these new year new new me meetings go on for hours.

Now, if your organization is big, I totally get that like ours, if they kind of like we have like 50, 60 people on within our national organization, sales team, like it's going to go long. Like it's it's it's going to go long. Who yeah, absolutely agree. Leave 2020 and 2020. Yes. Yes. Amen. Amen. So, so, but clear and concise, right? Like I'm all about long meetings if it's needed, but I think a lot of times a two hour new year new me talk can be an hour. Right. I'm all about joking around. But I think I think people, I think your employees are desperate to listen to you and you give clear concise information.

Right. It's not the, I think one thing I'm seeing and I think it may be our generation is is is we're tired of kind of the bullshit. Right. Again, I'm sorry. Sorry cursing, but like we're tired of like we just want to be shoot. We just tell me what's up. Right. I like my team. I've learned that for my team. My team does not like when I just beat around a bush. Right. Lynn. So, I've learned and this is something you know, Gary V talks about that he's bad at and I know I mentioned him a lot, but I admire him that he talks about how he's really bad at radical candor with his employees, AKA being really direct with his employees.

And I am bad at it too. Right. I'm a three on the Enne gram. Right. We can talk about any gram here on the next one of these live shows. I'm a three on the Enne gram. One of my tendencies is to go to a nine that nine is the peacemaker where I just kind of shut up everything's fine. Everything's good. Let's just keep rolling. No. Within an organization you have to get better and that's something that I'm trying to prove on in my personal life. What my life. And also with my team as well is be more direct. And I think as a leader with new you new me, that your speeches, please be direct.

Don't give vague things. Give specific numbers. Be quantitative. And keep it concise. Right. Just because I knew your me talk goes two hours and not three hours. Doesn't mean you're dating wrong. It just means you're more efficient. And honestly your employees are going to be happy with you. So all that being said, that is that is enough with me rambling. So I appreciate you all tuning in to Guy's Councilor 2.0. It means a lot. It really, really means a lot. You all have a great rest of the week. Again, I am off the rest of the week. Again, give me my new year new me talk tomorrow with with my team.

And then ultimately traveling on Friday. But I'll be back next week like I said, maybe with some guests. So again, thank you so much. If you need anything to enjoy my texting community, shoot me a text. 615-235-650. If you want to check out my VACO website, it's got a bunch of good information forms, networking tips, resume templates, go check that out. And so yeah, I think you need to do it. Go check out these two things. Also feel free to DM me on LinkedIn and Twitter. Also, I'm responding to comments right now. So we never had a new year new year new me meeting. This is really interesting.

Yeah, I think you need it. I think people need to be centered. I think people need to be energized. I think people just people need to see transparency. People need to feel good about going to the new year. So if your organization does not do new, do your new me talks, please push for that. And if you need suggestions, if you are a leader and never done it and need some suggestions on what to talk about, please DM me. I'd love to advise you on that. But yeah, cool. Y'all great. Y'all have a good one. Thank you for tuning in. Appreciate it. Peace.
