So let's talk about the basics. You get laid off your on the job search for the first time you get fired Let's talk about a few things you do one Resume LinkedIn incredibly incredibly incredibly important. Those are the two things have been very loud about that If you're gonna invest in some money in your job search on the front end There are a lot of templates out there. Yes, man. They're checking in. I love it There there's a lot of resources out there free resources I have free resources But if you do want to sit down with somebody I would say if you sit down with anybody and pay them The only thing I would do during the job search is your resume LinkedIn because it is so important So that's the that's the first thing the next thing what I would do So and I always put myself when I moved up to Nashville to do music.
That's why I that's why I got up here to play drums I played drums the hockey talks and the studio row or music row and did studio stuff and all that jazz I was clueless like I like looking back on it like I had zero Zero idea Of like how to find a job like I didn't know any of this existed That's why I'm so loud about it like they didn't teach me this in college at all I didn't know what really LinkedIn was in college I didn't know how to find a job in college like actually the one course that I took that was actually extremely beneficial Was a a career course, but it was only one hour.
It was a one hour course and here I actually met my buddy William skulls who works in a rally office. He's been with Vaco for six eight years now So again, it's No one knows how to do this. That's why I talk about it And that's why I think we should talk about the basics more than I think we do so what I would do after you get your ring link to bring them LinkedIn and resume written I would then start and I did this show two or three days ago So go to my YouTube on how to find a recruiter and what I would do and What I would do is I would start DMing recruiters and just have conversations like hey, who's hiring?
Like who should I go work for? Who should I think about? All that stuff like like that's what I would I would just sit down with recruiters and use them as basically like your Google That's what I would have done. I would have tried to get a Pre-COVID because because recruiters will buy you lunch trust me. I I will try I will try to I would try to have a lunch or coffee with one recruiter a day In your town Seriously and just ask them the same questions. Who's hiring? Who should I talk to? Who's the best manager to work for? Who's the best company to work for?
Which company should I stay away from like those are really good questions? What I would do is so resume LinkedIn and then literally lunch coffee with with one recruiter a day Then what I would do is I would Start researching jobs in your area now. This is a hack This is a hack that I talk about is so after you meet let's say you meet with 15 recruiters Right like two. That's a lot actually it isn't if you're doing one a day right because like here's the deal side bar Toyside bar y'all realize what I'm trying to do and the information I share is I'm basically sharing how to be a recruiter That's it.
That's all I do Elliot did someone say lunch That's all I'm trying to do is I'm trying to share all of my secrets all of how recruiters recruit for you So you technically don't have to use me Does that make sense? I'd want to share all of my secrets everything so you can better approach the job search on your own Without using outside out now. I think you always should use it your outside help But I'm just trying to give you an idea of why I do what I do and why I say what I say so We got resume LinkedIn and we're launching and coughing Recruiters every day once a day and then what we're doing is after you find about five or so recruiters you can tolerate Tolerate What I would do is I'll start going through job postings on LinkedIn right indeed LinkedIn dice.com if you're in tech And what I would do is if there's a job posting that looks really really good I Would email BCC those recruiters And I would email them The job lead Now you can let them know they're on a BCC or you can just make it seem like it's a direct email to them.
Hey I Saw this posting do you know anybody? Or are you recruiting for that company? because here's a deal if You send me a lead And I know somebody there, but I'm not working there. I'll make a quick email intro Like I'll do email intros all day like that takes two seconds Right, and so that's what I would do so like those those things you put those in place like That would be huge a few comments coming in Call Taylor Ben your two kinds Yeah, Brandon you attended the number one school for international business. I didn't discuss this. Yeah, no seriously um Yeah, Ben just yell around town somebody will hire you.
Yeah, absolutely just say hire me Um, so that's what I would do it so that like again. I'm trying it. I'm trying to put myself back To where I was when I first came to Nashville clueless not having any idea what to do LinkedIn resume get it written. I have Resources on my website Taylor Dessen Taylor Dessen dot com my resume template In a video on how to write your LinkedIn For free Taylor Dessen dot com If you want job tips 615-235-5650 So you're gonna do those two things and you're gonna lunch. You're gonna cough. You're gonna start DMing recruiters And again, remember what I told you about recruiters though the two and two rule two and two two years of experience at least two years experience at that company and two years of experience recruiting in general That will help and So you're so you said then you're like do I have to go profile by profile?
Yes, you do if you do not have a job I say this time and time again If you do not have a job the job search a full-time job It is absolutely a full-time job And so the two and two rule DM a recruiter that meets that hay would love to catch up with you Let's talk with them build relationships Then go to job posting so you're probably wondering and I'll end on this If anybody has any comments questions thoughts, please throw them up now as I wrap up here Getting over ahead cold too. It's hard to talk a long time um What I would do so you're probably thinking is Taylor you haven't you haven't said To start applying to jobs.
You're right I have y'all noticed that this entire 14 minutes with the first six minutes being band talk was about me not talking about submitting your resume to jobs We have creating your resume creating your LinkedIn Messaging recruiters take asking them for coffee or lunch And then going through job postings and then sending them to the recruiters Not once have I set apply to job postings not once build relationships relationships over everything with our depth over width That is going to allow you to catapult you to the top of the list right like all this band talk that happened this morning Like this is how it happens right you start talking to a hiring manager about band stuff and then lo and behold You get hired because like y'all came from like kind of the same way of thinking and all that jazz right so A few other comments I've come in again if you have any comments questions.

I will tell you the individuals who are methodical in the job search who has really good questions Who take the time to do research?
