Let's talk layoffs, right? So so the big thing I talk about is is every single time red You got to get your resume your LinkedIn set right and I know people are like Running my God knows it. It's so good. It's so good. Listen. Koyo of taco Miami win with so good Yeah, seriously, right? It's even so that bonus was seven. It was makeup on seriously So here's the deal when it so you got to get the resume your LinkedIn right the resume and LinkedIn are the foundations of your job search Listen, I'm not really big. I'm not really big on pain for services Side note.

I do do that. So if you do want my services for resume LinkedIn, I would obviously help you with that but If you're gonna pay for services. Yeah, Vernon. I would love some Haitian food man I still have yet to have Oxtail and my my God, Norendo up here in the comments Has been trying to treat me to Oxtail in Atlanta. We haven't gotten there yet. So I need to try it. I'll read to you It's good to see you Resume LinkedIn I could I would pay for that like if there's any now listen There there can be a whole another live about what to look for when you pay for somebody so that message me if you don't want to use me that's fine But like be aware of that stuff right, but I think it's important because you're not gonna be successful Right, it's kind of like working out and dieting right you can you can't out run a bad diet Right, and that may preach to somebody today Your diet and that's preaching to me to Your diet is the cornerstone of your health, right?

You could work out seven days a week But if you are not eating right, it's not gonna really work and that's the same thing with the resume LinkedIn like you do resume LinkedIn's gotta be rock sawed it's gotta be met optimized for some keywords It's gotta be optimized for milestones Accomplishments etc. Gotta get that down. So get that down first the next thing get your resume on all the job board sites now in my opinion most of the job board sites suck Right indeed dice LinkedIn monster Angel I don't know. There's so many of them. I think most of them suck has anybody. I'm kind of curious TikTok LinkedIn etc Stacey, it's really good to see you girl who has had success off job boards like who has had really good success off job boards I'm curious comment in the chat and which one was it this is just kind of my own thing so But there but here's the I talked this person yesterday.

I said I said I said this person I said it's probably not gonna benefit you or help you but on the off chance it does You need to be everywhere when it comes to the job search, right? So you need to have your resume updated on those job sites another quick tip for job sites every time you log on Every time you log on to to these job board sites It triggers your name to go to the top of the the top of the database, right? So like we recruit our search recruit our search every 24 hours on these job board sites to who is Refrester of profile so fun little fact if you can at least log on once or twice a week to these job boards like little just log on Just log on Maybe make a make a few clicks and get out That'll trigger to to your resume to be at the top of everybody's search Devin comes in what what do you think the bet what do you think the best place to look is for jobs?

I'll get there in a second, but I think communities slack communities are huge I'm a part of multiple slack channels where they post jobs Discord communities are huge that's where I think that's where I think you should look for sure Yeah, Michael comes in in regards to job board sites. No, if they typically suck exactly right so fix so and also nothing to Devin back to this talent marketplaces are huge as well like gun IO I mean like Loki obviously got a like promote my company, but like talent marketplace is a really big two you need to go It's a place is where they cure right the job boards like these these job board sites They're not really curated right it's kind of just like a it's kind of like a graveyard for jobs, right?

And so all right, so we got the resume Up over to the job board sites again think think of the job search is building a house You don't just use a screwdriver to build a house use multiple tools to build a house Right this is coming from a guy who doesn't do anything with tools now wife does all the things with the tools Right so again, you don't build a house with a screwdriver So you can't just rely on mass applying you got to do everything so the job board sites is huge next thing what I would do is is is I would literally Spend the first two to three hours every day if you are laid off Trying to message and connect with people and get them on a call Now I've had so many questions about this Taylor if there's one thing I need to focus on the job search what would it be my answer is always the same try to have one net new Conversation with somebody in Your network or add them to your network, right?

So have one conversation with the stranger every day. That's it. That's my only requirement one a day one a day one a day one a day Right so the morning it takes a lot out of you networking and trying to do conversations and stuff And like trying to compose messages and do all that is is a lot Right that that's what I call deep-state work and then what I would do is take take a break step outside touch some grass and then the After news need to be calls right so I was talking to this one person yesterday who was laid off this recruiter and Then I told her I said I said this is what I would do I would focus on one net new person a day in your network to add and Then I would also have one conversation a day with With somebody who you know in your network.

So so in my and in my commerce in my two cents You need to be having two conversations a day That's it two conversations a day right? Let's see here want to get here one conversation a day keeps the unemployment away Janet We need a shirt Janet making sure send me the shirt Michael. How do you come across by that? I just love hanging out with y'all in the morning. It's just kind of a different vibe I love my guess don't get me wrong, but it's a different vibe with just us. How do you not come across the spammy? Michael, that's a great question here.

Listen Michael how would you I guess the answer the way to answer this question is how would you like to be approached and to not be spam? Right for me like I still go by the three pillars of a good DM admiration Flattery a specific amount of time and a specific question right? So hey Michael love what you're doing the Raleigh area been a big fan of you would love to talk with you for six minutes and ask you How have you been successful in your career finding jobs? Right as it keep it short and simple in my opinion those three three ways to compose a DM is incredibly important admiration flattery Specific amount of time to talk with that person don't say five minutes right whenever your mom texts you do you got five minutes How long is that's usually an hour?

Right and then a specific question people want to know what they're walking themselves into and listen Like it could be a little bit of a long game here. They may not respond you but you got try You got if you can hit that one a day and listen that may sound easy But most but the average response rate for DM's is 20% so every 100 DM's you send 20 of them are gonna be responsible so if you only send 10 DM's a day you may only get one or two people to respond and that's just Response that's not a green to talk to you Right huge difference huge difference Let's see here he has Jackie super talented.

Yeah 100% she is 100% Let's see here Steven Evans Google jobs kind of sucks right now, but 10 of your time. So you know, hey, I didn't know about that Look at that Stephen you got any more tips man Google I've been I'm out of the agency world now so like I'm not I don't know about these tools as much The market is so flooded is ridiculous. Yeah, it's it's a lot right now If they get a posting on job where jelly means they've already struck out yeah 100% 100% so all right all right, so we got your resume your LinkedIn set then we got Then we got you know Get on the job boards and know and and and and then we're networking right?

We're networking in the DM's we're DMing We're doing hey, hey, can you chat? We love chat with you, right? So once we do that You need to come up With a way to follow up you need to come up with a way to follow up Right so in my I think 80% of the job searches follow up when I was on the job search four or five months ago I I most of my time was following up right so gun I am for example quick story with gun I am We we were chatting for a bit. They were like we like you But we want to hire VP marketing first so they can interview you and hire you even though we want you Like that's fine.

No worries. I got time. Well a week later When bye and I hadn't heard from them and I messaged a CEO again I said I said hey hey CEO his name's Teja say hey Teja Don't know where you're at with this VP of marketing But would love to Really really interesting join your organization. Let me know You know what happened? He goes dude. Thank you for messaging me the VP of marketing candidate We had in the pipeline turned us down. We are going Let's go ahead and move forward with you that would not have happened At least in a timely fashion unless I followed up with that person so you got to come up with a way to follow up with people in my opinion Use Trello.

I think there's really good tools out there called Hunter There's something else out there. That's that's really good as well for like job tracking Incredibly important. Please use something also another tip have a work Job email. I don't know about you all but for me I kind of work out of my email as a task list right and so Like if you're gonna do that you need to make sure it's separated So you're not trying to email your mom about what to get her for Christmas and accidentally email a hiring manager If you know what I mean right I would come up with a e a job-specific email I think that's a great way to be laser focused in this day Stay on track when it comes to the job search, right?

And then and then finally and again, these are just kind of the basic building blocks I can have a podcast like specific podcasts like to dive into each and one of these things So so you're so you got your resume your LinkedIn set up You got them on the job board sites You're networking in the morning You're carving conversations with strangers or people you're not working the afternoon You have you have a way to follow up And then my my biggest advice after that is is is Take a breather right take a breather don't stress yourself out There there is a saying of where I worked last that they said if you ever wanted good things to happen Take a vacation Take a vacation because good things start to happen right?

I'm not kidding you and I did not plan it this way I got a job offer With gun I owe When I was on vacation Right now You're very very this way like well, tell you that's insensitive I don't have any money to take a vacation. Listen, I get it I get it But what I'm saying is you got to touch grass you've got to take some time for yourself Mental health is incredibly important physical health spiritual health all of those things are very important the job search Right so what I do now is some job search I would spend from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m On my computer like I'm working DMing people trying to have those conversations from 11 to 1 I'd have a good lunch with the fam I'd have a workout and then from 2 to 5 I'd be having conversations right I spent I gave myself a two-hour break to unplug and I actually Still do that today in my job.

I give myself two hours to unplug To be able to stay focused right? I think people are wildly inefficient with their days Yep, yep, Stephen gets it Stephen gets it. Yeah. I don't know what it is right I mean obviously like it's obviously you're working up to a point and it just kind of happens But I don't know again take some time for yourself. All right. Let's see here a few more comments coming in here People like compliments going back to the DM's people like compliments. I try to find something cool put Yeah, go back through their post go to their LinkedIn see their common interest all that stuff's incredibly important Brady found myself my job turner last week.

I'm ready yet seriously. Let me know if you might help I'll try to help you as much as I can But again, thank you for being here and and this is I mean you're one of the reasons why I'm doing this doing this show this morning Yeah, Trello's great completely agree. I have my personal email that is more my nerd handle and my personal yeah exactly right And you got to understand people All everything that you put out I tweeted this two days ago and it kind of spread like wildfire Everything you do Your email your profile picture how you present over zoom all of that is a direct reflection of who you are in your brand Right, so if like your email is a little questionable or your presentation on zoom calls isn't that great all that stuff chips away You write Michael said earlier Where's Michael?

Where's where's it? He said? Where'd he say he said Where is it Michael? Where would you put that he said the market is so flooded right now. It's ridiculous You got you everything needs to be buttoned up right now everything everything Everything right if you need to audit Of that let me know right love to help Ah, let's see here. What else fully agree. I took a while to do this myself even just casually looking the stuff gets lost and yeah Exactly. Yeah, please have your own email Plus vacay timer staycation clears your mind. Yeah Listen, so many of y'all get laid off and and some of y'all just so damn angry and I get it I get it do not come at me with pitchforks do not hit do not come at me with pitchforks But some of y'all are so damn angry after getting laid off that you try to go into your job search And it's it's more of a mess and a wreck right you have to make sure what up Aaron It's good to see you buddy.

You have to make sure when it comes to your job search. Listen This may be a hot take and I'm sorry. This may not be professional. You don't need a rebounds You know what I mean we've all been there relationships when you're angry you're looking for a rebound Don't don't take a job just to be a rebound job right now I understand there are times to take a job if you need to write this person who I was talking to yesterday They go this this this job this job is 20 $25,000 under what I was being paid And I said listen I said I don't know you I don't know your bank account I don't know how long you can go at this and and this individual is like well I can go at this probably by the end of March of next year and be okay and this individual told me I'm really good at interviewing and I pretty much get every job I interview for and I love that confidence and I was like then just wait then just wait Let's see here In bootcamp right now Janet comes in as my plan So listen I'm gonna say this hot take here.

I think junior developers coming out of bootcamp have the easiest word track to network with people in the DMs Here's why Janet can go in DM any person so Janify were you I would look up Boot camps in your area that are successful at placing people in their next jobs go connect with every single person that When to that boot camp message every single person to go hey so and so I saw you into this boot camp I'm coming out of this boot camp as well. Can I talk with you for like six minutes? To see like how you found a job right Janet you get on a call with that person and then at the end of that conversation if you are vibing only if you are vibing Ask for another introduction Today if y'all play that game.

I grew up southern Baptist didn't it? They may be all play that game where it's like they give you a penny On a Wednesday night youth group and they're like go out And try to grow this as much as you can over the next two hours. There were some people that came back with a car. I don't know how they did it But like it's the same thing Ideally when it comes to the job search You need to have warm leads warm leads are the thing that gets it done So if you're vibing with somebody on a call and you really enjoy it just ask that person like hey I've really enjoyed talking to you.

Do you have anybody else in your network who I should speak to and do that? Let's hear also make a good friend out of a boot camera structure. Yeah 100% boot cam instructors Typically if they're good have the network cool. All right y'all I think that's it for today I think I think that was that was it kind of covered everything. Hopefully you enjoyed it again TikTok thank you for tuning in everybody on LinkedIn. Thank you Stacy, thank you so much. Yeah exactly found yeah Again, so Stacy brings up I so Stacy said this great advice I did the same reaching out to people who went to boot camps I find they would respond more often.

You know why that is Stacy for everybody who's watching right now Because people get back to you if you have a common interest If you message me about South Carolina gang cocks. I'm gonna I'm gonna respond back to you every time 10 out of 10 times right like literally People will respond to you if you have a similar interest so That's it for today. I appreciate it. I appreciate you all hopefully Hopefully you it wasn't last thing if you like this, please share it right if this resonated with you and you feel like Somebody in your network could get something out of this. Please share this.
