He's a singer songwriter, but he has helped me with all my design, all my new colors that's in my email newsletter. He is doing all that. So again, thank you Jess for that. So let's go ahead and dive in. Kathy or my dad, good morning. Kathy, good morning, again, TikTok, good morning. So I wanna go ahead and dive in to today's show. And I think I'm passionate about this today.
This is gonna be a long show today. This is gonna be a long show. This is some I just been thinking about. So before COVID, we talked about contract contract higher, right? And this kind of goes into the same vein. I'm really big. I'm really big on the fact that you need to come engaged with every interaction. So TikTok, I see your post, how do I, oh my gosh, that came up by really, really fast. So how do I trick fake employees to give me a referral? We'll get there. We'll talk about fang employees for sure. But I wanna talk about being engaged in every single conversation that you have and come with questions.
Be interested. I can't tell you how good of an impression and make it looks and it gives me when a job seeker, when I do the initial Zoom call, come with questions like, you know, be engaged, right? Cause a lot of times I always ask at the end of everything. Hey, do you have any questions? John, good morning buddy, it's good to see you. And a lot of times the job seeker was like, nope, I'm good. I'm good, Danny, what's up man? Out here on a Monday, Danny's good to see you. Hey, did you just get live on LinkedIn? Was that a recent thing? Because obviously I saw your live recently if not I've missed a lot of your lives.
So sorry about that. But you gotta come engaged, right? I have so many people that are in their right tailor like I have so many phone calls. I don't wanna be engaged on every phone call. I'm telling you everything right now is a unique interaction. Every single thing is a unique interaction. Every call, every chat, every DM, every video call is a unique interaction. And so if you don't come to the table, every time dialed in engaged, asking questions, yes, I'm glad I'm back out to do Danny. It just doesn't come off well, right? So let me ask you this. So a lot of people ask me this, hey Taylor, what questions would I ask recruiters?
When I first meet with them? Well first off, let's just ask them kind of some behind the scenes that they're gonna be surprised with. First off, ask the recruiters how many people they placed this year or last year. Like that's a really good question. I would ask them that. Hey, Mr. and Mrs. Recruiter, I've just a random question. How many people do you place last year? Me personally, I placed around 50 people last year in new opportunities. There's no right or wrong answer here. Obviously the more the better. Typically as a recruiter at Vaco, if you're doing your job really well, really really well, Amir, what's going on?
It's good to see you. If you're doing your job really well, you need to be placing one person a week. So that's what 52 people a year. Like if they're close to 52 number, like that's incredibly important. And so that's one question. That's another question too is like, hey, what's your process usually look like as a recruiter? Like what am I about to go through? For me, I'll tell you what, you're gonna send me one or two references because I wanna give them a ring. Nothing crazy in depth I wanna give them a ring. I'm gonna give you a techy vow, right? And again, we can get in techy vow.
Maybe that's topic for tomorrow's techy vows if you should take them, which you should. So a techy vow. And then I'm gonna talk to you about my process, right? I'm gonna tell you where to go, where to be, how to be on the interviews, where to go, who's speaking with. And then we're gonna talk about salaries and negotiation, all that, right? You need to know that, right? As a job seeker, you need to know that. And that's incredibly, incredibly important. And so those are the two things you need to ask recruiters, right? Like, off the get, hey, how many people would you place this year last year?
Why do you get that 52 number? Hey, listen, what is your process working with me? Like as a job seeker, what steps are you gonna put me through? That's incredibly important as well. And then I would say another question too, like, is there another recruiter you can introduce me to? Right, because one thing I'm really, really important, really big on is saying, hey, listen, you should always end a phone call, period with a suggestion, with another lead, if that makes sense, right? So if you're on the job search, at the end of every phone call, with somebody you should ask for another introduction, right? So those are the three questions that I would ask me if you're gonna speak with me.
Hey, Taylor, one, how many people do you place last year? I'm just curious. If a recruiter doesn't know off the top, they know. So they, they're, oh, no, they know, and they're lying to you cause they're probably not that good. All right. Don't ask me. Second question, what is the process of working with you, Taylor? I'd love to know what the process is working with you. And third, the final question is, hey, do you have another recruiter you can introduce me to? I have two other recruiters in Nashville that I introduce people to that I think do really good work. And I think that's incredibly important.
If a recruiter thinks through tune, that's good to see a girl, Brian, what's up, buddies? It's good to see you. So that's all I got for you today. It's very short, very to the point. Let me know if you have any questions. So there's a question on TikTok. I'm gonna scroll back. TikTok does not do well for my comments perspective. How do I trick a fang employee and give him me a referral? Hey, listen, you don't need to trick at all. Just ask them like, hey, do you guys have a referral program? Do you have a referral program? Can you get your referred to a job?
Just ask the question. You don't need a trick them, because I'll tell you this, most companies already have an internal referral fee. You don't need to ask them to, hey, if you know somebody, if you know somebody at fang, again, for the longest time I know what fang was, it's Facebook, Apple, Amazon, Netflix, and Google. I figured that out recently. And if you didn't know that, congratulations. I just talked to you that. And so for me, and if you have any questions, please add me here, because again, we're just doing a little Q&A and then we'll finish it up. Companies having internal and referral programs.
So you don't need to trick anybody. Again, TikTok user, thank you again for that, but you don't need to trick anybody. Just ask, hey, I see this job. I'd love to work here. What's your internal referral? Can you refer me and go from there? One question. How much does it cost to get insurance? It just depends on the individual. We have insurance here at Vaco, but it just depends. That's a very broad question. I don't have a specific answer to that. It's all based off who you are, preexisting conditions. I don't know enough about that. Few more, John, who are those recruiters? Those recruiters in Nashville are Sydney Cremons at Zykron and Hunter Mitchum at Autobase.
Those two are my people. They do good work. I like them. We can go from there. TikTok question, my resume needs updating. What website would you suggest to formatting an optimization? Shoot me an email, tailor at Vaco.com. I'll send you my template. There's a lot of terrible templates out there. Just send your resume to me. TikTok user, tailor at Vaco.com. We'll go from there. Dana, yeah, I did a 500, we came already help 40 people who were resource. Yeah, it's awesome. Yes, you're a monster. I'm glad you got LinkedIn live. I'm excited to see you on that more. Andrew, good morning buddy. Hey, Andrew just want you to know.
I had some of your coffee. They're really dark versus at Lighthouse. Really good. It kept me away for three days. But probably helped me get over COVID. What else? Awesome. I think that's it, y'all. I just want to hang out. If there's any more questions, please let me know. Otherwise, that's it. Three questions. Come engaged. Every time you talk to a recruiter, how many people do they place? That's just an interesting question. Two, what is their process of working with you? Three, do you have another suggestion of another recruiter in your city or that you work with that you recommend? Those are three questions, fast recruiter.
