to how to find a recruiter. How to find a recruiter? I get this question a lot. Hey Taylor, how do I find a recruiter? What do I look for? So I want to walk you through. So I'm a screen share again. I liked all this screen share stuff because I think it's needed. I want to walk you through on how to find a recruiter. And so all that being said, let's go ahead and dive in. All right. So everyone can see that screen here. Great. So when you're on the job search, so I tell you this and I tell us all the time, like you're gonna have to kiss a lot of frogs.
And y'all, if you have any questions, comments, concerns, please add me. Comment me and I will absolutely you know, answer these live. Yes, Andrew does code to Andrew does code, but he's also he helped me with all my audio set up. So let's so let's dive in and find a recruiter. So what I would do is I go to the search bar and I would literally type in the word recruiter. I probably so if you're in the tech field, I probably do technical recruiter because that kind of weeds out so it's just a lot of recruiters out there. So let's say, let's say we want to do cities, right?
So I'm going to do Nashville as always, right? All filters again, get comfortable with the search filter and LinkedIn. This is this is your like unlock Nathan. Thank you for accepting my invite. Just like come through. I'm just updating everybody real time on what my inbox looks like. So let's say I'm in Nashville, right? So locations Nashville also share this share this live thing right now. Like I don't ask a ton for you to share it, but like if I think it's really good to put in information for others to see that I share this. So please share this with others because I really think this could really help people in the job search.
So I'm going to do Nashville and I'm going to do so connections. It doesn't really matter because if you're just starting a job search, you probably not going to have a lot of connections, right? So here I'm going to pull up my screen a little bit. Bull my screen up a little bit. There we go. All right. So so here. So right now when I press the word technical recruiter in Nashville, there's 1200 results and I probably take a daggam. Do I got to go through 1200 results kind of kind of kind of but but here, I'm going to give you some key things and if anybody sees these that I'm going over and again, I'm sorry.
So let's go to Tiffany, right. Tiffany Harris. So I'm going to click on Tiffany first off. Tiffany only has 39 connections, right. And again, Tiffany, I don't know Tiffany. If you know Tiffany, I'm sure Tiffany's awesome. I can't obviously like fuzz out stuff here. So So, but so Tiffany's only got 39 connections and only 400 three followers. And she's only been a recruiter now for seven months. Listen, the, the, what I'm about to say just helps you filter out recruiters. It's not the end. I'll be all listened. Tiffany, Tiffany could be a badass. And she looks great to work with. She's happy. I love her profile pic.
She, it's inviting. It's fun. But if you're trying to like, if you're trying to just filter out recruiters right now, you need to look for a few things. One, the connections. One, the connections. And then also another thing too is the, um, uh, the years of total experience, right? So Tiffany's only been a recruiter for seven months. And again, I'm sure Tiffany's great. We have a lot of recruiters on my team that are seven months and that are great. But if you want to go with the guide, my guide is usually the two and two role, which is two years at one company and at least two, at least two years in the industry flat out.
Like if it's anything, at least two years in the industry, so I'll move on. Right. Matthew, let's look at Matthew's profile. Right. Matthew, uh, let's see here. So first off, he's got over 500 connections, which is good. Right. 1,300 followers. Not bad. Not bad. Matthew's been recruiting for. It looks like he's been recruiting since 2019. So he's been about two, he's been about two years. Right. Now what I would do is I would probably message Matthew. Right. I'd message Matthew. I like Matthew. He looks nice. Probably dressed up for a wedding. Right. But like at the end of the day, like this is your decision.
Do you want to message Matthew? Do you not? I would probably not message Matthew. Why? Because there's just not a lot of personality. Right. You want to work with the recruiter that has personality. Right. So let's go to the next one. Kelsey. Right. Kelsey's with Texas. Texas was big. Right. She's only got 713 followers. And she's only been doing it for six months before that she was a social media marketing intern. Right. Probably moving on. Probably like Dang Taylor. This is going to take forever. I get that. But here's the deal, y'all. Here's the unlock. If you start this way, if you start this way, instead of applying to jobs everywhere, this is the same as applying for jobs.
We need to, we need to reverse our way of thinking. We need to reverse our way of thinking. This is the new way to apply to jobs is networking, building relationships, making friends, not blasting your resume everywhere into a black hole HR portal. So all that being said, um, let's, let's, let's keep going. Right. So, so Janie, right. Janie looks nice. 594 followers. Only been at it for set. Uh, she's only been at it for almost two years. It's up to you. I'd probably move on. Why? Well, because she really just had, doesn't have a lot of like personality. See I use actually from my hometown.
So shout out Columbia, South Carolina. Um, so again, like this is what you need to do. Keep going through every single person, right? You're probably like Taylor, like you haven't clicked on anybody yet. That's good. So there's a lot of frogs out there. And I'm not calling any of these people that have pulled up frogs. All that being said, you need to, to, to go through this, right? You need to go through this. And I would look for personality. Right. So, so, so, so let's see, right? So technical recruiter, technical recruiter to Tana. So let's look at Tana. Right. So he's, he's looking, right? So he's technical recruiter.
He's been at it for a bit, right? I can see why Amazon probably picked him up. He's been at for a bit five years of recruiting experience, right? So I'd probably message Tanner. Now he is at Amazon again, right? So there's two different types of recruiters. There's the agency side of things like me, like tech systems, like autobased, the profiles have pulled up. And then there's also the corporate side, right? So Tanner's profile who I just pulled up, who's with Amazon, right? And I, I wouldn't network with both, right? I, I would DM both. And so you're probably wondering, well, Taylor, what do I DM them, right?
So let's do Tanner. I'm not actually gonna DM Tanner. But what I would do is I would go to connect, and I would go to connect, and I would add note, like, hey Tanner. And then, so again, right, we talked about the three parts of a DM, right? So flattery. I didn't really eyeballs profile that well. But like, hey Tanner, you know, saw where you went to UT. I'm a Gamecock fan. And, and, and was, I don't know, I'm making all that stuff. And I was wondering, your thoughts on UT football this year. Right? Because again, just doing something to build rapport. And now let's say, do you have seven minutes to chat?
I'm wanting to get a video. Seven minutes to chat. I'm wanting to learn more about Amazon, and they're hiring this year. Right? So again, this is what I talk about all the time. All the time. One flattery, admiration, I do it here. Hey, saw where you went to UT, right? It looks like it sort of shows you actually checked out Tanner's profile. You know, I use something to obviously build our rapport football. And then it's I listed a specific time, just specific amount of time I want to talk. Not five minutes, but a specific amount of time. And then the one question I want to ask, right?
This is the game changer right here. This is the absolute game changer. Yeah, Tiffany goes, Tiffany goes, I like the seven minutes. Here's why, here's why I like the seven minutes. Because everyone goes, hey, do you have five minutes to chat? Dude, five minutes to me means 15 minutes. No, I don't have 15 minutes to chat. Right? If someone goes, do you have five minutes? Do you have like four minutes to chat? Three minutes, 90 seconds. Right? You want to be funny. I would say 90 seconds, right? Or something like that. So be specific on the time on that, that really, really helps. And then what I would do is I just press send.
And I would literally go through that. You're like, Taylor, that's going to take a while. Again, I know it's going to take a while. It is going to take as long as you blond, submitting your resume everywhere across the country. But this is going to actually build relationships. Again, relationships over everything, right? Depth, not width, right? Everything we learn, everything we try to learn in the job search is literally the opposite of what it needs to be. Relationships first, then, and then, and relationships first, and then the jobs will come. Right? So all that being said, that's all I got for today. That was it.
I just, I legitimately just wanted to talk about how to locate a recruiter. Any questions, comments or concerns? Any questions, comments or concerns? Please ask here. So let's see here. Elliot goes, I switched the number up every time. Odd number is only because I'm odd. Elliot, you're not odd. You are fantastic. But yeah, odd number is great. Nine minutes, 11 minutes. I don't know. I think that just feels like, I just, I like that. Elliot, kind of like the odd number side of things. But again, like, I want to get this across today. The job search is stressful. I get that. You have to build relationships.
You have to build relationships. You have to have a ton of conversations with strangers. You have to be okay asking for things. It is a lot. I understand that. But at the end of the day, relationships first, job second, you and also I'm going to leave you with this. Come up with a way to keep up with all of your connections. Right? So let's say you talk to five recruiters in a week. Like, come up with a way to like check in with those recruiters. Right? Whether it's like sitting in a, I would probably, the easiest thing to do is like create a calendar invite for that one person, like two weeks or three weeks in advance.
And then like that way three weeks from now, you're going to reminder, hey, you need to call John Smith that tech systems again, just to check in. You have to create reminders. I had this one guy, I had this one guy that messaged me that got a job at Amazon, junior dev because of a conversation that he had months ago that he checked back in with. Right? The job search is marketing. You have to be top of mind all the time, everywhere. And so the most efficient way to do is to consistently check in time and time again. So that's all I got for y'all today.
