The job search is stressful And there are some people that are listening to my live show right now that I've chatted to and this is directed at you But I just wanted to have a conversation. I just wanted to have a conversation Where we're just open and honest about the job search, right? Some things you're struggling with right So if you have comments you if you have concerns if you are struggling with specific things in the job search I really want to hear from you. So please at me comment me And let me know some frustrations but the one thing I'm seeing and I'm talking with two individuals and getting one individuals on this call Is that it's a lot right you have a critter sending you jobs?

You have job leads as friends. There's just a lot coming at you and and my suggestion for you is This is where you really need to focus on one to three to four jobs and that's it It's kind of first come first serve and I've been thinking about this a lot like Taylor well like What if what if what if I take the first job? What if I take the first job that comes to me and it's great like what else is out there? Right because at the end of the day you can't sit around on a job like you can't sit around on a job like you have to make a decision and So I get that question like Taylor do I take the first job do I keep looking?

First off, I would just be totally transparent with the employer right? Hey Mr. Mr. M mr Miss entire manager company ABC like thank you again for moving so quick Thank you for having complete confidence in me. Thank you so much But I'm at the beginning of my job search. I really would like a week. I really would like a week Is that okay right the job search you need to be absolutely brutally honest like Absolutely brutally honest with whoever you're dealing with the recruiter Harry manager at the company HR whoever you need to be honest and so that is the best policy I really dig in and this is if you have a full-time job right so this is what I'm coming from the two individuals I'm working with have a full-time job right and so you have to navigate differently if you do not have a job You need to be interviewing all the time.

You need to be job hunting all the time It is a full-time job like I tweeted the other day With the job search is not a wake up. Chug upon a coffee Sent to me emails out for two hours and then binge watching Netflix for the rest of the day right if anybody's watching something Interest on Netflix, please at me comment me. I always need more suggestions So if you have a job you need to be focused on a few job if the job opportunities that came to you early Are I fit and can be a fit just dig in on those right? This is where the recruit relationships really got to come into play because I've had a lot of recruit a lot of developer friends Like man Taylor I'm not really jacked up about this opportunity like listen trust me I think you'll like them they end up finding their dream job because now does that happen a lot?

No, not all the time, but that's also where the relationship of the hiring relationship with the recruiter has to come into play Because you need you trust with that person is telling you to take the interview because again interviews are stressful Interviews take up a lot of time. I would also make sure you're asking questions in the interview That's my big kicker right now. I'm sick and tired of candidates going in interviews blacking out not asking questions Taking the job then miserable six months in it's like well what yeah, no no shit. You didn't ask questions Sorry for cursing a little Jack dumb today had a lot of coffee So that's my thoughts there we had some comments come in so again comment at me comment me If you have any questions concerns Seth the worst part of the job search me has been waiting after an interview Or I feel like I did terribly listen I understand that right first up.

Let's talk about thank you notes Right so thank you notes for me is is sending a message request sending a friend request on LinkedIn With a thank you note added in the notes actually you know how when you send You send the message you send a friend request on LinkedIn. There's like a message thing right the message Hey, hey Seth. Hey Taylor. There's great chatty with you yesterday really enjoyed my talk Hope to hear from you soon. You do that at the end of the day So when that higher manager logs back in you are at the top of their inbox But Seth I hear you.

I will tell you this we are our own worst critic I'm gonna speak to you today hear me when I tell you you probably never do as bad as you think you do All right, and here's the deal who cares if you did terribly right take notes Here's something that I suggest the other day start journaling Start journaling when you get off the interview word doc Whatever if you don't like writing or your handwriting's bad like mine journal it right and just start jotting down Where you think you messed up and start reviewing those notes for every interview in all of a sudden You're gonna have a page of notes where you will be like oh wow like I you know what I missed about variables So I probably need to learn about variables for the next call right so I tell you it So that's some thoughts but Seth I want to speak to you today.

Hey, listen you're good Take a deep breath. It's all good. You're going to find the job that you're meant to be in here very soon Andrew what's up buddy good morning? Amy goes I really hope you will you will develop specific advice for those graduate for boot camps in intensive So you don't have any tech experience your land job. Yeah, Amy. I'm all ears right so my website right now resume template 10 questions of stuff for recruiter when they send you a shitty job um Questions to ask the hiring manager the company during the interview And how to write a LinkedIn and how to network via social media on my website So check all that out Amy.

I'm open to other suggestions if you have any other ideas. Please DM me. I would love to create some Some more material for people Toss you go stressful you can say that again. I settled for less not using my potential Yeah, I mean listen don't don't settle right we can't settle But I'm all about taking a job in the interim that fits your needs your budget needs before moving on Right, I think I think a lot of people too, and I want to I want to deploy this on y'all who are watching this morning Try to take a little stress off yourself with the job search and when I and hear hear me out Nobody stays at companies anymore for 10 years five years Right Don't put pressure on yourself if the job is right for right now if it gives you monetary Value immediately and that's what your why is right now your broke you need a job and it provides money Take it there is nothing wrong with that evaluate where you are in a year Right, but really at the end of the day nobody stays places for very long So make sure you just so you know what in the short term a year year and a half this job will work for me Right this job will work for me.

That's how you kind in my mind Just take some stress take some stress because again. I know the job search is incredibly stressful Casey goes job hunting this stressful good thing my CBD oil Uh-oh Uh-oh I'm banging on the table too much. We back we back fam hold on hold on. I lost y'all. We back We back. That was awesome. All right. Yes. Casey heard that heard that Andrew goes rejection stuck say pauses keep building eventually worked out So Andrew says something I want to highlight keep building Keep Building keep building here is what I mean by that and here's what I think Andrew means by that Andrew chiming Keep building your network It's a mentality shift right it's a mentality shift from Oh jeez another interview Another wasted time to a hey I'm gonna build a new friendship I'm gonna make new friends And I'm gonna learn something about a variable or dependency ejection or I'm just saying tech things at this point But I'm going to learn something out of this call that is the most important thing Andrew that was great Casey.

That is one big thing Keep track of where you're interviewing ask good questions be intentional Go into interviews willing to learn wanting to learn not in this kind of Bregardantly, oh great. I got to interview again And I think you're gonna be incredibly successful some more comments coming in again y'all at me comment.

I'm gonna wrap up here in a minute Um, but uh, let's see here. I think of interviews as practice So even if I don't get it. I take something out of the next one Marissa. I could hug you through the cam if I could This is what I'm talking about. This is it. This is what I'm talking about. It's practice Right you have to get out there and practice also to like we all suck at talking to strangers What better way to learn to talk to strangers in interviews Right just learn talk to people. That's it. Just learn talk to people Learn talk to have conversations friend among LinkedIn build a community right this this community that I'm blessed with did not happen overnight It is constant intentional conversations That is how that is how you need to focus that is how you need to focus your job search and small intentional conversations Seth Talking about staying at a company.

The specific thing I felt went wrong with my last interview was where you see yourself in five years Question I felt like they were looking for someone long-term. I answered wrong. Hey tip here. Here's the idea The other day said you don't know what they were looking for You don't know what they were looking for answer the question How you want to answer the question don't be so afraid of gaming the system now listen Listen, I have a job and I'm very blessed to have a job So I don't want to sit here and just come from effective like you need to be you Don't worry about what the interviewer say Blah blah blah like I understand there's got to be some gamesmanship at the end of the day Seth You need to be confident who you are right the one thing I'm hearing from you during this session with you sharing And again, thank you for being so open and vulnerable is you're worried about not hearing back because you felt like you did terrible Right you're worried that you didn't answer the prop the question properly right hey Seth have confidence in yourself buddy And and Seth isn't the only person that struggles with this for the record Seth isn't the only person that struggles with this everyone struggles with this Be confident who you are you know what Seth.

I you don't need you don't want to work for a place that rejects you based off of this question You just don't you don't want to work here. You don't Want to work here if they reject you because you didn't answer where do you see yourself in five years correctly? Right again, I understand you got to have some games in a ship the interviews about gamesmanship I understand that but be confident who you are what you bring to the table and how you answer questions. You know if they don't want you That's their loss Uh, Seth goes this good advice and don't worry your horse isn't too.

I appreciate that man I appreciate that there you go. Casey Seth have seen your stuff. You're brilliant. The good stuff is coming. This is this is what I'm talking about encouragement Encouragement. That's what I want this community that is what I want this community about. I love this so much All right y'all hey listen.
